Growing to Glorify

Eagan Hills has experienced rapid growth in recent years. Average Sunday attendance has risen from 290 in 2003 to over 500 in 2006. Sanctuary seating is often filled to capacity and there are not enough spaces in the parking lot to accomodate all of the cars. Our current building only has one room for adult ministry, and children's and youth ministry classrooms are crowded. Moving to three services would help, but an extra service would be hard on volunteers and potentially damaging to our church culture (shorter services, less time for fellowship, etc.)

Planning for the Future
In 2006 the opportunity arose to purchase land from the Lutheran church next door. Pledges were raised and plans were set in motion to expand our parking lot and eventually add on to the existing Eagan Hills building. Specific details are still being hammered out, but the current plan is as follows: A parking lot expansion is planned for Spring 2008. By 2009 an education wing with several classrooms is planned towards the east side of the building, and by 2011 our goal is to have a newly expanded sanctuary edition.

Raising the Funds
"Growing to Glorify" is a stewardship campaign where each person or family prayerfully seeks God's will in their lives, and is invited to make a three-year pledge above and beyond regular giving to the church's annual budget. "Growing to Glorify" hopes to raise most, if not all, of the funds needed to underwrite our facility expansion project. Estimates vary, but the entire project will likely cost $3 million to complete. Some will give a weekly or monthly offering beyond normal giving. Others will give tangible assets to the church (stocks, bonds, property, etc.). Still others will transform time, talent, or ability into a financial gift to invest in the future ministry of Eagan Hills Church.



Progress Report (updated 3/10/08)
We have closed the sale of 2.18 acres of land from Praise Lutheran Church. Eagan Hills now officially owns the land.

Facility Expansion Presentation
Sunday, April 20th, 5:00 PM
Come to a congregational meeting concerning facility expansion at Eagan Hills. Everyone is encouraged to attend. The drawings will be on display in the lobby and our Facility Director, Bill Schroeder, will be available to answer questions and listen to suggestions on Sunday, April 13th, after the second service, and on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, April 16th & 17th, during Youth and Awana.

Parking Lot Expansion
Parking lot construction will begin in Spring '08 to add 120 spaces to our parking lot.

Classroom Addition (2008/2009)
We are planning a classroom addition east of the facility in 2008 or 2009. Timing largely depends upon the giving to Growing to Glorify.

Sanctuary Expansion (2010/2011)
Our long-term plan includes a capital campaign in 2010 to raise funds for a larger sanctuary, which we hope to build soon after the campaign.

Campaign Giving
In May 2006 we began our "Growing to Glorify" capital campaign and received $1,426,000 in pledges. Giving began in June '06, and by March '08 we had received $632,262 leaving a balance of $793,738. Obviously, contributions are critical at this point to minimize short-term financing of the project.

Cost
The land purchase (2.18 acres), engineering, and parking lot will likely total $750,000 to $800,000. So far we have received $632,262 in giving. We still need $21,373 to pay off the purchase of the land and $190,000 to pay for parking lot construction (set to begin this Spring). We are exploring short-term financing to enable us to move forward.
