What to Expect

An Eagan Hills service is contemporary in music, relaxed in dress, and traditional in our commitment to Scripture and historic Christianity.

Services are normally about 75 minutes. A live band leads worship each Sunday morning. Then for 10 to 15 minutes (most Sundays) prayer requests are taken for those wanting to share, and the congregation prays as a body. Teaching is done in "everyday language". We typically teach through books of the Bible. (You can listen to recent sermons online through our podcast.) We encourage you to bring a Bible, but if you don't our ushers will be happy to provide one for you.

Because of our church demographics, children are a significant focus of our ministry efforts and are welcome during worship. For teenagers, our Junior High Sunday school class meets during the first service, our Senior High Sunday school class meets during the second service. We offer classes for children preschool through 5th grade during both services. Our nursery is staffed to care for your infants and toddlers. Ask a greeter or usher to help you find the appropriate class for your child (ushers wear a green "Eagan Hills" polo shirt).

An offering box is located in the lobby for those desiring to support the ministries of the church.

Communion
Communion is a holy moment where we as believer’s come together to confess our faith in Jesus Christ. The bread represents the body of Jesus given for us on the cross, and the cup represents the blood of Jesus shed on the cross. The bread and cup serve as visible reminders of Christ’s invisible presence in our midst.

We urge everyone to embrace both the vertical and horizontal dimensions in communion. Vertical in that this is an act of worship towards God, horizontal in that this is an act of corporate fellowship with one another. Believers who are living in fellowship with Christ and their fellow believers are welcome to participate in communion.

We normally celebrate Communion the first Sunday of each month. This may vary, especially around holidays.

Child Dedications and Baptism
We practice "Child Dedication" as a way to celebrate the birth of a new child. Several times a year we hold a special service in which parents publicly dedicate their infant children to God and express their commitment to raise them in the Christian faith, with the hope that one day the child will make their own decision to repent and follow Jesus. The pastor then publicly prays for the child and the congregation affirms their support.

Jesus commanded his followers to be baptized, and we believe baptism is an important step of obedience in the life of a Christian. Several times a year we hold special services in which new believers in Christ are baptized publicly to declare their faith in the Savior.

We are committed to training up children in the Christian faith at a young age. In the New Testament, baptism was generally given to people after they repented of their sins and expressed saving faith in Jesus. We believe that a child must express a personal decision to repent and follow Christ before they are baptized.
